Research Support
"In September 2004, the members of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) published a joint editorial aimed at promoting registration of all clinical trials. We stated that we will consider a trial for publication only if it has been registered before the enrolment of the first patient. This policy applies to trials that start recruiting on or after July 1, 2005. Because many ongoing trials were not registered at inception, we will consider for publication ongoing trials that are registered before September 13, 2005."
FHHS Staff Publications
The FHHS Library attempts to track publications from staff. These are identified by a search on medical databases and stored in an EndNote Library. Extracts are converted to PDF documents. Caveats: the list shows publications from staff identified as being active in publishing - the librarians are not always aware of all staff involved in publishing; sometimes the search will pull up articles from authors who share a name with a staff member - it is not always possible to reliably distinguish between individuals if an institutional affiliation is not shown.

EndNote in SMAHS
The libraries at FHHS and RPH have purchased a SMAHS-wide EndNote licence. EndNote version X and EndNote Web are available for use. If you have an earlier version of EndNote installed, it can be upgraded. What is EndNote?
EndNote X
EndNote X [a.k.a. EndNote10] is software that is loaded on your work PC. Any EndNote libraries that you create are stored on your work PC or group drives. The licence does not cover installation of EndNote X on home PCs. You may however use EndNote X on your work PC and transfer your libraries to EndNote Web for use at home.
Your PC must have the XP operating system and MS Office 2003 at minimum. If your PC is capable of operating with XP and Office 2003 but has been loaded with an earlier operating system and MS Office version, it is possible ITTS has the licences and will be able to upgrade your software. If not, they will require you to submit a requisition to cover the costs of software upgrades. Contact ITTS to determine what is required or to have EndNote X installed on your PC from the Library's server.
EndNote Web
EndNote Web provides the advantage of being able to use your EndNote libraries from anywhere in the world. Your EndNote libraries are stored on the EndNote server and you must login to MyEndNote Web. EndNote Web is also your best option if it is impossible to upgrade your operating system and version of MS Office. The full functionality of Cite-While-You-Write cannot be used unless you have MS Office 2003 at minimum on your PC.
You must register to use EndNote Web from this link but after that you can access your EndNote Libraries from anywhere (as long as you reconnect at least once a year from this authentication-embedded link).
After you have registered, you will still need to install some EndNote Web files on your PC. If you are within the SMAHS network, you should download the required installation files from here (much faster and less impact on the internet bandwidth). If you are offsite, you will need to download the installation files from the EndNote site.
Contact the Library for training and support in use of EndNote.
