Education and Research

Fremantle Hospital and Health Service has active education and research programmes. Oversite for the research programme is provided by a Human Research Ethics Committee. Researchers are involved in affiliated and collaborative research with a variety of research institutions.

As a tertiary teaching hospital with almost all specialty services provided on site, the clinical services are backed by an extensive teaching programme. As well as routine departmental and hospital-wide teaching, formal postgraduate courses are also offered. Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Perioperative Nursing, Infection Control courses are held regularly and a Postgraduate Weekend for General Practitioners is held every October.

Interstate and foreign medical students who want to do clinical placements are referred to University of Western Australia's Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
