Patient Transport Volunteers |

Generally our Transport Volunteer Drivers come to us because they have heard by word of mouth that we require drivers to transport FHHS patients to and from the hospital. Other volunteers will recommend the work, retired FHHS staff come back to assist, or the volunteers contact us after seeing an occasional newspaper article.
Our Transport Volunteer Drivers drive modern well-equipped cars provided by FHHS to transport patients. Generally most volunteers work one day a week for 8 hours a day and are provided with a lunch voucher to be filled from the Ladies Auxiliary Kiosk.
The job is varied and in one day a volunteer may be asked to transport an elderly patient from FHHS back to their nursing home, collect a patient from their home to attend the renal unit and then travel with urgent bloods or equipment to another hospital. The pace is often steady and busy however the atmosphere is light and cheerful as volunteers and other Patient Transport staff pass one another.
The volunteers provide a valued and greatly needed role.
